Bought $10 in pennies this AM and went through them at lunch. Observation #1 - in 20 rolls I only had 18 coppers. Very low rate. Roll #9 however was my jackpot roll: 11 coppers, 2 canadians (76 and 90) and my FIRST IHC pull - 1904 in Good condition.

I haven't gone thru all the 98/99/00's or 95's for WAMs or DDs yet, but will tonight. Still have yet to find one.

That's a HORRIBLE copper rate!

I still coppers will be gone before long. They will be the equivalent of finding a Wheat cent today.

Well, "technically typing", this coin wasn't found inside a *bank roll*...but, it was found during the acquisition of some bank rolls. (the teller at my local BofA found it, and saved it for me)

This is a first for me...what's it coated with?

so, I just finished a really crappy box of nickels. started in on my box of pennies that I got to give me something to do while the wife watches the olympic figure skating...this box is starting out VERY SLOW. 13 rolls in, only 2 wheats: 49, 58D. a decent pile of coppers is building up, but I don't know if I'm going to keep them...can these be flipped for more than face value? if not, they're going into the bank bag and back to the bank tomorrow with my sack of crap jeffersons.

so the results from the dismal box of cents, after the dismal box of nickels...
8 wheats:45s, 46s, 49, 52s, 52d, 53d, 56d, 58d (no holes filled, no replacements)
A few pounds of coppers, still not sure what I'm going to do with these...probably just put them back into circulation.
I need to pick up some boxes outside of california, I think this state is tapped out at the moment.

AndrewC - I do have the 1990 - I was going to ask about it, as it isn't like most Canadian cents. I have no knowledge on Canadian coins.

After you educate me, will I still want to send it to you? lol.

Hard to say. Looks like someone was experimenting in preparation to replate some 43's. LOL

Afcop13, a 1990 isn't particularly valuable--I just haven't been able to find one. It's the only year I'm missing for my Queen Elizabeth cent set. Its mintage was a little lower than most, but nothing unusual--they made over 200 million of them.

If you'd be willing to send it my way, I can email you my address. Are you looking for anything that I might have on hand?

I'll send it to you - just send the address. If you need other years, let me know and if I trip over them, I'll let you know.

$10 more in pennies: Wheats - 44D, 48, 51, 57.

243 coppers this time, pretty high rate. Several blazingly new looking 70-79's and a gorgeous BU 68 (birth year). So nearly a 25% rate in this batch.

1 Canadian - 1984.

Forgot to mention - a few 70 S mints - no other S mints though.

Are older pennies with toning of any value? I pulled a nearly BU 1986 with rainbow type toning.....set it to the side just cause it caught my eye.

I have a stack of 54 1998-2000's to search for WAMs later today, still in search of my first.
