Good finds crazyforATB. I'm in upstate New York. The boxes from the local banks have about the same breakdown as yours. Recently, I finished a box of CWR that was above average on copper and wheats, but that was unusual. The 2009 I find are almost all Philadelphia. Good hunting everyone.

A lot of bragging, Joseph.. How about some results?  I also wanted to dispute your assertion that 1998 WAMs are more common then 2000 WAMs based on your personal experience. Reputable sources have them ranked in rarity based on research. Note also Red Book prices, which value 1998 WAMs higher than 2000 WAMs. Hypothetically, someone who found a 1999 WAM before either of the other two could assert with as much validity as your claim that the 1999 WAM is the more common one because he hasn't found the other two yet. An update on my last box. Definitely a copper hoard dump. Between 1968 D and 1969 D, I've got over a roll of cents. I just wish he had tossed some 1969 S in there for me to look through. ATB, my go to site for DDO / DDR/RPM cent listings is http://coppercoins.com/ Off the top of my head, the LMC years wit big errors are 1972, 1983 ( DDR), 1984, 1994 ( DDR), 1995, 1997. The big shield cent DDR is WDDO-006 in 2015. I'm sure there are more that I'm missing, but I usually just sort the coppers by year/mm and search copper coins. |

Does anyone hang onto the AU looking sheild pennies? I just started trying my hand at penny boxes and I've been setting aside the real nice looking ones.

Probably not as they're all common, especially in EF/AU grades... You may want to hold onto some of the BU ones you find in circulation though. When I was keeping count of the Wide AM cents I found more 1998 than 2000. A few years ago I had found 114 1998, 87 2000 and 19 1999 Wide AMs. So at least around here the 1998 is the most common. I quit counting the 1998's and 2000's but am up to 22 on the 1999's. Still Lookin |

I quit roll hunting a couple years ago, with 11 1999's; I forgot how many '98's & 2000's, but not as many as you. Now I have a TON of copper cents to gets rid of. I found 3 "odd" coins in a cent roll... I don't mind getting 27 extra cents!  CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

One rolls was entirely LWCs, another roll had all lustrous 1968-S coins, and still another was mostly 1973-s coins. Here are the best: 1919-D, 1919-S, 1925-D (hole-filler!), 1955-S, 1980-P late stage capped die strike. There were 79 LWCs total.    |

Very nice group, aristarchus123... I bet there's nothing like finding a full roll of wheaties! My most so far in a roll is 22.

Only $10 and you found a lot of excellent finds, arstarchus123! My latest $25 box of pennies. 684 copper LMC including three with an "S" mint mark, 1971, 1972, and 1974. 23 Canadians the oldest 1963, 14 wheat backs the oldest a worn 1919 and also a 1934-D. the rest were 1940's and 1950's. 20 2009 pennies, I still save all of these 2009's but I'm having second thoughts. Maybe keep the best and dump the rest. Not bad finding a 97 year old coin still out there in circulation! |
