Picked up a box this morning and cashed my check at the bank. I received this 1920 in change. Not sure if that's a good or bad omen. Let's hope this isn't better than the content of the box.

Reporting after 54 boxes searched:
Total number found pre-1920: 9 Total number found in the 1920's: 14 Total number found in the 1930's: 28 Total number found in the 1940's: 208 Total number found in the 1950's: 252 Total number of Canadians found pre-1961: 19
Key Finds:
1933 Canadian 1915 1925d British six pence (date unreadable) 1926d 1917s 1915d 1921s
Strangely enough, only two key finds were found after box #19.
My assessment of penny box searching is that it is much less productive than nickel box searching. The only good things I found in the penny box searching were the 8 key finds plus the other pre-1961 Canadians. If we did not collect older Canadian coins, the results would be even leaner.
I am thinking about switching to dime boxes as my second coin after nickels to search and see how those go. They are scads of wheat pennies still left in circulation, but most are from the 1940's and 1950's where there were no lower mintage coins.

JonNickelCollector, boxes of pennies are pretty much only good for collecting errors and varieties.

I'm 1 year into collecting Lincoln Cents and have acquired a great many, BUT lack the proper equipment to photograph with a microscope. Working on it. Anyhow. Hello everybody. I have been reading/studying a great deal from this site and wanted to thank you for contributing your wisdom.
I came across this one while removing floor heaters from one of the bedrooms. (Misaligned Die)
Best Regards, SCWaveRider

Wow a lot of good stuff posted on here lately!
Box 14 was a beauty! Best so far in '19
572 copper 24 Wheats: '14,'16S,'40,'42x4,'43x2,'44,'45x2,'47D,'50x2,'51,'52,'53S,'55x2,'57,'57Dx2,'58
The 1914 had the edge grinds and the 16S was definitely cleaned. My first 43s of the year. 11 Canadian copper with 1 KG 1940 1 proof 1986S 2 2009 My first 2019 P.
Overall great finds and box 15 is showing a wheat ender.

Up until the last two boxes it's been very slim pickings. I was starting to focus more on saving bright shiny coppers and 2000 through 2019 and wrapping at fifty marking them as AU. Box 9 & 10 saw a complete turnaround however. Box number 9 gave a return of 33 Wheats and box 10 a staggering 47 wheats. Several Wheats were in the teens, twenties and thirties but two of them ended up being extra special. Box 9 produced a 1915 P with a low mintage of 29,092,120. Box 10 surrendered a 1916 S also with a low mintage of 22,510,000. I have not found either to this point with hundreds of thousands of pennies searched. . Box number 11 on the year has been purchased and I'll get to work tonight. There were several Wheats and Canadians that I had low numbers found to date. After I finish box 11 I'll pause and get the spreadsheet updated. Oh! and I found an old beat up dime that I can't read the date.
