The 1883-S Morgan dollar is the best coin you have in the bunch. It grades AU55-AU58 or thereabout but it looks cleaned and has a long vertical scratch across the cheek. I think it is probably a $50-80 coin. The 1963 Franklin grades AU58 ad may have been wiped in the reverse. It is still a 90% silver half dollar. The 1969 Kennedy half is AU details cleaned. It is still a 40% silver half dollar. |

How when I am buying can I tell when a coin has been cleaned? Because the lady I bought all three from assured me that they were not. But I can't tell.I will try to take them back. Paid 150.00 morgan and 45 each for others was promised much higher grades.

There are many discussions on this forum dealing with cleaned coins. I would start with the search box for 'clean' or 'cleaned' and read up. We've all been through it and there are no shortcuts in learning how to spot a problem coin. Youarelucky to live in a time when there are plenty of resources in the internet. This education was much more costly in the past.

Thank you all for your input . No returns on coins but she lost a more than one customer on one sell. Dont seem like a good way to stay in business but they get stuff cheap because of pawn prices. We dont have any voin shops here butI will dtive up to macon next time.Thanks again.  |

No offense taken. At first I thought the stars on the reverse that are on top/next to the rays looked like solder drops, but upon closer inspection they are just worn. I compared the position of the stars to my own Kennedy half and they match exactly. |
