Hi, I'm completely new to metal detecting, And I have always wanted to own a metal detector, But could never find the funds to purchase one.

But while looking around at a local garage sale, This family had a metal detector for sale, For (Litterally) $1. They said that it needed a new battery pack, Even though I didn't know wether or not it was possible at the time (Or if they were being truthfull), I purchased it anyway. (One dollar, no big lose if this can't be saved )

So since I don't know anything about metal detectors, I was wondering if it was possible to revive this metal detector again, And how much a battery pack might cost (And maybe a short tutorial since they only gave me the detector and not the manual.)

Here are some general photos I took of the metal detector, And a few I took of it's markings to try and figure out what make and model it was.

I'm mostly sure that it's only problem is its missing a battery pack, It does not appear to have any damage or defects.

Top of the metal detector:

Bottom:

Logo on the side: (Sorry about the camera glare, It reads "White's classic SL, Manufactured by White's eletronics."

I also took a few more pictures incase they were needed.

If any more (Or clearer) photos are needed, Just let me know. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

I googled it.

And found this statement: Slide In "AA" Battery Pack delivers up to 70 hours of hunting!

Here: http://www.pti-world.com/classic1.html

Whites electronics: http://whiteselectronics.com/

I also read that you should contact White's and request the instructions.

And lastly, if you know the power specifications, any power supply of the same rating should work.

Looks like a cream puff. Good Luck!

You should be able to get the manual from white's website.

The battery holder may be available at Radio Shack or similar electronic supply store.

I picked up a White's - older that yours - at a garage sale several years ago; it also needed a new battery holder, which White's carries, although you might be able to do as I did and pick up one at Radio Shack and shave it down a little to fit. White's also has downloadable pdf manuals available online. You got a really good deal; have fun with it!

I managed to find the battery pack at the local store that sells metal detectors, Bought the battery pack for 10.95$, And amazingly the detector actually works! Suprising since I asked the store owner and he said that this model was made before 1990, haha.

Thanks everyone, And that link helped Parklane, I found the instruction manual for this on that site, thanks!
