Nice silver, guys! I only have these coins for 1915:    The rather nice 1915 Tower Mint penny was among the coins I got 30-odd years ago from the Arches Coin Market in London (at the same time as the 1925 penny). I can't remember where I got the 1915H penny. The halfpenny isn't in great condition: it was in a big lot of coins I picked up cheaply in a junk shop in South Africa early last year. Are we telepathic or what, I was nearly forgetting, processing shots of my instant gothic florin and early Victorian half crown collection! As I type this - NR also posts! Let us all not forget 1915 was the year that made New Zealand and Australia really prove their spirit and bravery with the Gallipoli campaign and cemented their friendship.  I say that too, as there has not been a Kiwi coin for zonks, I doubt anyone in 1915 was even thinking (Now these Australians have some coins, why can't we have our own too?  Edited by Princetane

Here a 1915h florin slightly harder to get  @Princetane shilling are in nice condition, I would probably say more like Fine, but grading companies will grade smaller coins harsher. Yes much harder to get these dates 1915-1914. Yeah I doubt any good looking coins from here on out, unless gold or graded coinage. Edited by ryurazu

Thanks Ryurazu, I would say the H is definitely at least aFine, but the 1915 - VG definitely. I find a lot of those early coins have a nice front, but George is always worn or has some sort of staining on him. Still considering most 1910s Aussie silver I see is Poor to Good, to have coins in the VG - Fine area is quite refreshing for me being the less moneyed collector!
I love your coins too - You have a nice group of Florins! As you probably know I love Australia and New Zealand, but Florins and Halfcrowns of all sorts give me my thrills.
You are going to love my 1914 Shilling and 1910 ones - the 1914 is pushing VF and 1910 a good fine stained and aFine not stained, the 1914 Florin I show is super worn, but got it in a junk lot for peanuts.
I don't have any more Florins before 1914 for Australia (UK that is a different story!), but we have the shillings right back and surprisingly quite a bit of bronze. I find the 3d coins are usually a bit better and I have many of them in Fine condition.
Realistically for a lot of us, Fine is the best we can usually do for pre 1934 silver - I noticed Australian silver goes up in price exponentially above VF and UNC coins cost gigarillions.

Okay NR - You win, still this coin is pretty messed up.  Good if you are lucky, especially as I have Gothic Florins from the 1850s now, which are ¼ as worn as this.  On the other hand, this is pushing VF, a truly beautiful coin and one of my favourite shillings.  The headshots show a tale of 2 coins here. |

I finally get to play this one! I'm not an Australia or New Zealand collector per se but I have a goodly amount of world coins. Just a few from this part of the world. This came to me with some Canadian large cents I bought, same obverse portrait and size ( thanks Wade) 1914 H half penny thanks for letting me play! Lol  |

1913, the first pre war year and the era of the Colonial Bull, dreadnoughts and unfettered tally ho jingoism!  I have a halfpenny and whole penny for this year (Both worn)  As you can see, worn and darkened down to VG  Decent shilling as always in fine, the person I bought them off, obviously tried to buy the best possible he could!  No 3d, 6d or Florin for me in this year. |

NumisRob - How is it you and I posted at the same time? Is it telepathy or ESP! 1913 was also the issue of the first Australian stamps including the iconic roo design!   The set featured the kangaroo on Australia design on stamps from ½d to £2. Anything over the 5/- is rare and expensive. My pages show the 5 watermark types, most of the low values under 2d were not issued after 1913 due to a KGV definitive set (The Roo design angered royalists who wanted the King). However some 2d, 2½d, 3d and all values 6d up were used through to the 1940s and the 2/- was used through to 1948! Page 1 shows 1st wmk - 1913/14, 2nd wmk 1915/16, 3rd wmk 1915/24 - these were all single crowned A's. Page 2 shows small Multiple wmk 1927 - 1930, C of A wmk 1930 - 1946 and below an inverted ½d (Upside down wmk) and various OS punctures and overprints. A pair of Specimen ovpts for the 10/- and £1 - much cheaper than un specimened ones. Australia federated in 1901, but apart from some postage dues, commonwealth stamps and Banknotes only emerged in this year of 1913 - Coins arrived a few years earlier in 1910. Previous to 1913, each Australian state used its own stamps! Edited by Princetane
