I have two dozen+ or so early teen wheat cents with the same woody appearance. Overall, I like the coin. I wouldn't kick it out of a 2x2 for being weird.

Personally I would put the coin in a capsule rather than a 2x2.

It is indeed a 1909 S cent, quite valuable.

Just a poor mix of the copper metal. While these are semi common on the earlier what cents, there is interest in them by some collectors just like there are other collectors that like toned cents.
