Pulled this out of a bag of wheats last night. Fairly significant tapered planchet, but struggling with the date. Most of these are on 1955 and 1952, but angling the coin around in the light that really looks like a 4 as the last digit. 195X Lincoln Wheat cent mint error - tapered planchet 2.65g

I think it's a 54 as well, the number is weak but present

Pretty sure the rims are clearly shown in the above photos.

What are you looking for? It's a tapered planchet, thinner where it looks thinner and normal where it looks normal. But here is the thin side with circulated wheats above and below.

Makes sense since the planchet was so thin the die had insufficient material area to stamp. Nice find and great pics! smat

Quote: Most of these are on 1955 and 1952, but angling the coin around in the light that really looks like a 4 as the last digit. They may be more common on those years (I don't know if they are or not) but tapered planchets can occur on any year.
