I think this is a dirty or old die? The date looks partially filled..

No, that is a Doubled die! Amazing find, noke the shape of the '1' in 1407

Judging by the 0, and the 'stepped' appearance, I would say that this is Die Deterioration Doubling. Certainly a 2x2 worthy curiosity.

Note the splitting on the upper left corner of the '1' in 1407 and the remnants of a second '1' on the 1987.
