If the consignment shop is a non profit , charity and it was me , there would be a donation That would have to be made . Those look real to me . Hope there was no additional charge for the " critter" !

I am almost speechless . If those coins are fakes then they are the best fakes I have ever seen . I would open that case , remove those coins and take better close ups of them to post here . Make sure you get some pics of their edges . weigh each coin if you can . Good luck .

Remove the coins from the holder and make a post for each one. Make sure to post a full coin pic of the reverse and obverse. John1

Hmmm.
These appear genuine, but I'd like to see the FEC and WQ. The quarter may be an Added MM and the FEC looks a bit inconsistent. But that could just be the lighting.

Je pense qu'il vous a tous dessus. Nous avons ici un bon parfum d'humour. Je l'aime. (Inside stuff going on here, see the F1 post) This guy/gal is a hoot. .

I've been looking at this thing for 4 days. I'm still digesting it. I don't know what the heck I'm looking at here. I think it's glued shut. I'm not going to mess with it yet. I gotta take it somewhere and have it checked out. If I have enough guts to open it, I'll post pictures.
I'm also going back to that consignment shop.

Quote: I gotta take it somewhere and have it checked out. Good idea. But even if they are fakes you'll still make out on the deal. There are people out there that collect fakes.

Well this was fun to assess. All the coins look genuine and if so I see 1) the key date Liberty Head nickel of 1885 in VF condition with a retail " RedBook" value of $1000, 2) 1858 Flying Eagle cent in Extra Fine valued at $140, 3) 1853 with Arrows dime in Fine condition valued at $25, 4) an1877 half in Very Good valued at $60, and 5) a key date 1932 Denver quarter in Almost Uncirculated condition (or perhaps a little better) valued at $350+ For a total retail worth of about $1575 or better. If so a donation to the charity where purchased would bring good karma.

It's late in the year but this is one of the strangest threads in 2020 I have seen.
