Club Hand (I understand the forelimbs of a Lizard are classified as hands). I call this a Club Hand as there is no delineation between the 3rd, 4th and 5th Claws. This can be identified in a preliminary check by tilting the coin and rocking it back and forward in good light. For a standard coin it is possible to see the delineation of the middle and fourth claws. For the Club - it is not. (This can then be confirmed under magnification.) If it were confined to one year; then I might put it down as a worn Die. However as it appears in all years 1966 to 1983 (although other than one on ebay which may have been a poor image I have not seen 1968)I can only conclude it is a Die Variety.
