Was given the 1888 S Morgan silver dollar with a serious rotational issue, not only that but it is a counterfeit that weighs 22.76 gms. Too bad it isn't the real McCoy!

The date on that thing is suspicious.

Looks similar to high pressure die cast.

There isn't any sign at all of even a tiny sign of radial mint luster, or any sign of hairlines or minor dings, which one would expect to find in a Morgan of this grade. Very faint definition of the jaw line with the field.

Have a very close look at the edge for removal of the injection point casting sprue.

Sel, LIBERTY through the hair is virtually non existent. You can also see all black casting sand in almost every crevice. Terrible fake.

On a side note, I've never thought to take rotated die photos using a mirror to show both sides, how clever!

Something else I just picked up on, it has the reverse of the 1879. It has the slanted top arrow.
