Is This An Odd Penny? (1992 D) - Coin Community Forum

eric95 New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 12/20/2020 02:32 am I found what I thought was a 1992D penny stamped on a dime planchet. However, in reading this forum I'm not so sure. It's diameter is .753 compared to .750 from a 1999 that I measured. On it's edge it has 3 reeds spaced unevenly around the diameter. It does not have the clad layers that you see on a dime. What made me think is was the wrong planchet is it has the color of a dime. Is this a fake? * Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. If you post a pic of the edge it would be easier to tell what the 3 marks are, Report this Post to the Staff
eric95 New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 12/20/2020 1:27 pm I have a picture of the edge but each time when I shrink it down I am told it's more than 300k. So I agree it must have been plated to explain the extra .003 in. diameter. Report this Post to the Staff
