I found what I thought was a 1992D penny stamped on a dime planchet. However, in reading this forum I'm not so sure. It's diameter is .753 compared to .750 from a 1999 that I measured. On it's edge it has 3 reeds spaced unevenly around the diameter. It does not have the clad layers that you see on a dime. What made me think is was the wrong planchet is it has the color of a dime. Is this a fake?

We would really need to see what you have and we can tell you about what you have and perhaps how it was made. Please read the directions about uploading photography here. We'd like to see the whole coin, both sides, and any areas of interest close-up. Please work on it and if you still have problems uploading, ask us, we can probably help!

to the CCF! We're looking forward to see what you have!

Your coin was probably plated, is so the .003 extra in diameter was from the plating.
If you post a pic of the edge it would be easier to tell what the 3 marks are,

I have a picture of the edge but each time when I shrink it down I am told it's more than 300k. So I agree it must have been plated to explain the extra .003 in. diameter.
