I haven't bought a Roman coin for quite a while, so I was pretty happy when this one came up for sale.

One thing I did notice was that on the Wildwinds listing for Heraclea RIC VI 16 Δ, the reverse legend reads; CONCORDIA MILI-TVM. However on this coin it reads; CONCORDIA MIL-ITVM. Another variant?

The variation is the result of the situation the die cutter must have found himself in, when making the die.
The scepter must have been cut first and did not leave enough room for the more common version of the legend at the top of the scepter.

With all sorts of tiny and major variations of design and individual flan variation, all ancient coins are unique unto themselves, at least in some minor way.

Thanks for the reply @sel_69l. There were five workshops listed in Wildwinds for RIC VI 16, all having the CONCORDIA MIL-ITVM legend, except workshop four which had the CONCORDIA MILI-TVM legend. To find that there are variations even within each workshop is pretty confusing to the uninitated.

I had strayed away from the Romans for quite a while Paul , but have recently seen a couple that caught my eye. This one of Licinius II, though not in as good condition, was one that I hadn't seen before.

If you look in RIC VI, both legend breaks (L-I & I-T) are noted; but if your coin had a different break, it would still be the same RIC number.
