What do you think the grade of this 1847 Gulden is? My best guess is Zfr.

Happy Christmas !

Zfr on the Netherlands scale equates to UK VF.

The crown on the reverse is fairly sharp but there is a lot of wear on the lion and the horizontal lines on the shield are not distinct.

I think the grade is between F and VF - so GF (or perhaps Fraai+ on the Netherlands scale).

I agree with Pertinax. That is immediately how I saw it.

I disagree with F-VF. As you can see, this coin is graded F-VF and is much worse then mine: https://www.ma-shops.com/henzen/item.php?id=52401
It could be of course that the Dutch seller overgrades his coin.

From American grading I would have no issue calling this an EF45. Nice looking coin.

I am planning to do a quick dip in acetone when the coin arrives to see if I can get rid of the black spots. Perhaps that will make the lines on the shields a bit more clear.

The coin arrived today. I soaked it in acetone for about 30 minutes. Not sure if it did anything, but the photos of the coin afterwards are shown below:

Could have been me with the paper towel trying to dry off the coin.
