I love a coin with A all seeing eye .
What can anyone tell me about these coins? This one grades US NGC MS-64
I do not think I can afford it but there is another lower graded one I may be able to.
If its fairly common in higher grades UK VF or better I will wait.

The coin celebrates the King's return to sanity after an attack of "Madness" which took him over in 1788, where he started blathering, talking to himself, having fits, mania and other things.

People thought he was quite mad and the Prince Regent was ready to assume the throne, but mysteriously in early 1789 the symptons disappeared and the 50 year old monarch was pronounced fit to rule. He was so happy he had a big thanksgiving service at St Pauls and the eye possibly presents the favour of God.

Many people were relieved too as they did not want the wastrel Prince regent running the country. The coat of arms is that of the City of London.

George's madness returned in 1800, 1806 and finally in 1811 he was deemed unfit to rule and spent his last 9 years a virtual prisoner at Windsor castle.

The coin is a copper token, likely a halfpenny if about 30mm in size and a penny if 34 - 36mm or so.

It is believed the King had prophyria, which was unknown in the late 1700s.
