1956 D/D (D/S) Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-12, OMM-001

Another of the controversial Lincolns is this one. VV sticks with it being a D/D east, while both Wexler and Coppercoins go with a D/S making it an over mint mark. This one doesn't show the supposed "S" very well, but I have seen some where it does look quite convincing. There is an extra image with the "S" shown to give an idea of where it is supposed to be.

Found this Stage-B example in a roll this afternoon.

Interesting to say the least. I'm inclined to think more of a D/D than a D/S given what the variety looks like. Very nice find!

I tried to find an image in my files of one with a more distinct S but didn't locate anything better than this one, which admittedly hardly shows it.

The marks inside the mint mark appear to be related more to the heavy abrasion scratches seen in the field than another mint mark, but it actually does have a second repunch. The lower serif has a nice split but VV doesn't note it.
