There's a big problem with the second slide...there is no dependence of depth of field based on sensor size. This is a myth, and is absolutely untrue. I have no idea why it keeps on being propagated. The 3rd slide is a good one to explain why folks doing macro often prefer smaller sensors.

You're right rmpsrpms.

I think the confusion comes from this. With smaller sensor size, we need shorter focal length to get the same field of view.

We know that the Depth of field if proportional to N/f^2
where N is the F-number and f the focal length.

So, a sensor 2 times smaller will use a shorter focal length by the same ratio to get the similar FOV.
The Depth of field will be then 4 times larger.

Most poeple think by considering only the sensor size and forget the optic specifications.

The graphic belies this argument as it shows a wider FOV for larger sensors.

In general it's best to try to dissuade this nonsense.

It's only true on this picture if we assume that the focal length is the same with each sensor size. The slide should mention this.

And if the focal length (and f-number) is the same, the depth of field is the same.

but also even with image size and sensors gotta think about the hyper focus of the sensor also but I do agree with arguments above also, Just thought it may be helpful for some
