Recently was digging around in my safe and found this bar I bought through the RCM. Think I purchased in 2010ish... I know it was not toned when I received it. It's still original sealed. Is the plastic packaging causing the gold tone or was it "contaminated" before being entombed in plastic?
Ps I love the bar still and think the gold highlights the birch tree!

Hard to say what is making it tone, I don't think the packaging is air tight, chemical reaction to the packaging materials, the way you are storing it,etc.
