I would not recommend the CPG if you are specifically interested in Lincolns as those two books cover all denominations and are not specialized enough for a Lincoln collector. I would recommend Looking Through Lincoln Cents by Charles Daughtrey(coppercoins here) or The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents by David Lange.

I would suggest three books for the Lincoln series that have helped me. First the Red Book for pricing guide; Second a good photo grading guide (mine's old like me, there's probably better today); and lastly a speciality guide like Lange.

Congrats collecting the correct way for Lincoln cents. Buy the book first and then the coins. Knowledge is key for enjoying this series.

One other piece of advice is start with buying the keys to the series. There have been some threads on this, but in the '60s when I started, the 1909S VDB was about $100, didn't buy it then so I paid significantly more (check today's price)

Thanks all!!

When I was in my twenty's I ran, and now in my late 40's, I walk very cautiously.
