These 2 are not pocket coins. They would grade in the EF-AU (TTB45-50) range based on wear.

The 7/5A decime is moderately rare, the 8AA 5 centime is pretty common, but both are conditionally rare. These coins are pretty ugly below these grades, and practically nonexistent above.

Whoa! They used the same picture of Marianne on a 1991 Franc!

Marianne deserves it. She's a classy babe.

These are awesome. Let me relay some info from "Le Franc VII" on these for you, it's often different from the info in the Krauses:

for the 5 centime: mintage 20,002,258; as you say, tough to find in good grades of course. Values listed in Euros in this 2007 printing are as follows: 15 in TB25, 50 in TTB45, 200 in SUP58. There are varieties for this year that include strikes on the larger decime flans, AA over A, and a whole peck of 8 over 5, 6, 7 overdates... not to mention the coveted CNIQ typo! (Boy I'd love to see one of those!)

for the Decime: the 7A and all its overdates makes 5,585,991 mintage. Values for yours run 30euros in TB25, 150 in TTB45, 500(!) in SUP58. Some of the 7/5 overdates also have a dot to the left of Dupre's signature, adding to rarity/value. Another close variety has the Rooster overstruck on the Cornucopia privy... Perhaps under a loupe you might find a trace of the old style cornucopia, values for this variety are paradoxically lower on the TB and TTB ends...

Hope these factoids are of interest!

Best regards,

Thanks, seriousCERES. The 5 centimes was an ebay find. The 7/5A decime came from the NUMIS shop in Toulouse. We couldn't make out which 7/5 it was - it's either the /13 or /14 type. But the 5 is very strong - no searching for it under the 7!
