I purchased this 1937-D Lincoln Cent. It is in an NGC MS-67 "Red" slab. The seller had it listed as RPM-001 with the repunched mint mark showing north of the D and the extra thickness of the E and PL on the reverse from E PLURIBUS.

It looks to me as though the seller had it properly identified, but I thought I'd check with CCF members.

If it is RPM-001, does that increase the value or is it just an interesting addition?

Thanks.

Congrats on the coin although I'm not sure it is red, judging from the images.
And the image of the MM is pretty blurry so I'll take your word on it being an RPM.
There does appear to be some class 6 thickness on the motto on the reverse.

It doesn't sound like you won this at an auction but bought it at a set price. Without knowing how much was paid for it there isn't really a way to know if it holds more value for the variety. IMHO, it kind of depends on how long it was "sitting on the shelf" waiting to sell. When coins get up to this grade, it doesn't really bring any extra value for the variety in addition to the grade, especially when the seller advertised it as a variety.

I did win this on an ebay auction. I wish I was able to take better up-close photos. Sorry I can't provide better shots. I've used some close ups I took and some from the seller.

I would say that you have it right - Nice DDR/RPM variety.

As for any premium, maybe. I would bet the seller sold it to you with the premium already so getting much above that would probably rely on you finding someone that needs/wants that coin enough to pay an even higher premium.

You might be able to send it back to NGC and for a slight fee have them label it as a VP-001. I haven't done that before so you might verify it if you decide to go that route.

CentStation,

Thanks for your suggestion.

I won it for a very reasonable price, but don't know if it's worthwhile submitting for a variety.

You have my curiosity up and running. I'm not familiar with that designation (VP-001). What service uses this and what does the "VP" stand for?
Thanks in advance.

BTW- My understanding is that NGC only labels Cherry Picker Guide varieties (the one with FS #'s).

Ah yes. Thanks Centsation. (I've only sent varieties to ANACS.)
