I am new to coins what is this error in the word WE on the letter E? Would this make the coin more valuable? I have searched on searched and I cannot find information about this error. I greatly appreciate the guidance.

How can you tell damage from errors?

There is a finite number of ways errors can happen.

There are a billion (infinite) ways a coin can be damaged.

So the only question you need to ask yourself is "How can this happen during the minting process?"

Once you understand the minting process, and look at a lot of coins, it becomes much easier with most coins.

There is no way I know of your "error" could happen during the minting process.

Yep, just damage from well placed hits in circulation. The hit moved the metal from the letters.

A coin appraisor said the following regarding the 1944 wheat head.

This flattening of design elements near the rim is often the result of counting wheels and rolling machines which put pressure on the edge. Also, these WWII era coins were struck with often worn dies, which left some design details a bit weak.

Could it possibly be the result of counting wheels and rolling machines, as stated above.

Bobby131313. Well put..

It does look remarkably like an S mint mark on the bottom leg of that E. However with repeated learning over and over and over again about the minting process, with still so much to comprehend, it is safe to say this could not happen during the minting process.
Thanks for showing a neat PMD coin..

Altec 12 what do you think of the T on the 1944 coin, do you think that could happen during minting or is the appraiser give me mistaken information.

What the appraiser said is "damaged" with way too many words.

That sums it up. Hope you didn't pay for that opinion.

The coins were offered to me for a price that I wasn't going to spend unless I could confirm the information so I appreciate the information everyone.
