2018 D Penny Doubled Die Obverse / DDO -- Earlobe

JTAC Valued Member United States 72 Posts	Posted 01/15/2021 12:33 am I saw variations of this DDO on Wexler's Coins (WDDO-001) and on Variety Vista (DDO-001, 1-O-VIII) webpages, but this one didn't have any of the other markers that they showed. My penny doesn't have a die crack on the forehead like on Wexler's, and the letters are perfect with no Machine Doubling visible, unlike the ones from Variety Vista. These pictures were extremely difficult to get clear because of how shiny the penny was, so I had to use my fingers and paper to tone down the light a bit. If you see any blurring on the edges it was from that. Report this Post to the Staff

I used my digital microscope to quickly look at it, then put it in a pile to examine closer with my loop because I saw a shadow somewhere else that I wanted to look at closer. Good thing too--the original spot was nothing. Only under the loop did the ear stuck out! Report this Post to the Staff
