VarietyVista is the only site to have this variety so info is limited.

From what I understand, stage A versions of this variety have a die chip in the 4 of the date but not in the R & S of TRUST.

Question - Is there a VEDS that has no die chip in the 4?

Yes. But with all the chips on the other areas of the die, they may have pull this die early. (Thus a lot less examples out there)

It is theoretically possible that the chip formed before the die struck any coins. I suspect the heavy distortion to the digits and lettering could cause weak points in the die that would be extremely prone to breaking. May it have broke during the hubbing process?

A similar situation is the 2014 1c DDO-003. I have yet to see any example without a die chip in that 4 either.
