Maybe a whist counter? Any help appreciated.

@po, perhaps it is a whist counter, but when others have pondered this question with similar examples, it seems like the non-definitive answer ends up being split between this being a tree of life token and a Mexican Guatimoc coffee token. In my mind, the crosshatching on the rev tends toward the tree of life explanation.

Here is a link to a similar piece up for sale:

I'd always hoped the Tree of Life had a more sturdy trunk, with strong roots deep in a much more substantial patch of soil. Thank you Spence for giving us that thread with the identical examples.

Here are two examples of Guatimoc coffee tokens from Chiapas, Mexico. I see some resemblance between the trees depicted on these examples and that on my original piece inquired about. Perhaps an earlier or later version, or a rival hacienda? Thanks again to Spence and others for their efforts.
