I am no ancients expert, but I can really appreciate a good coin when I see it. I just picked this ancient Egypt Philip I coin with a 5/5 Strike, 3/5 Surface and I am very, very happy. So, I wanted to share it with you all. I seriously love the strike on this fella. I assume that this is the Alexandria mint in Egypt during Philip I's reign, but what I don't understand is what the "rv Homonoia stg" means.

Forgive my ignorance, but are Greek gods/goddesses on Roman coins common?

Yes, Greek gods are common, especially on coins from Alexandria, before it changed to the Roman Imperial system in the late 3rd century. From Harpocrates to Helios to Hades, there is a Greek pantheon represented on the coins. Also a bit of Egyptian gods with reverses like Isis and Horus. You can also find a blend of different cultures with gods like Hermanubis from Greek Hermes and Egyptian Anubis. The legend on your coin is also in Greek. Some people refer to coins like this as Greek Imperial, others call them Roman Provincial. Almost all Roman Provincial coinage has Greek legends and the coins tend to refer to local things like whichever gods were favored in the region.
