Aagree with Shaney, with the only caveat that die chips aren't errors, since they don't occur as a result of any mistake in the production process. They are most accurately considered a die state, since chips are part of the natural life and deterioration of the die.

It is a die chip, I was just clarifying that die chips aren't errors under the typical numismatic definition used for error coins. A Cud is just a die chip on the rim of the die that extends into the fields or design (while a rim Cud is a chip that only affects the rim and nothing else). Cuds are typically more valuable than either die chips or rim Cuds. This would just be a die chip. No added value for one this small.

The work Cud and die chip seem to be going back and forth in the comments for this post. The coin doesn't show a Cud, as Cuds involve the edge of the die breaking and falling off. This coin shows a die chip, which doesn't really make the level of "error" to most collectors and most don't make the coins more valuable.
