Hi,

I get that CCF doesn't like linking to outside urls. However, is there a rule about referencing information found elsewhere? For instance if I want to share useful information I found at NGC, can I say NGCcoin.com or provide the url without an active link somehow?

What do you recommend?

Thanks and stay well.

There are some sites that are not allowed due to various reasons. Posting a list would defeat the purpose. The forum software will let you know if you try to post one of them.

You can link to external information sites as much as you wish. Where it becomes murky would be if you, yourself, had written an "information site" and then started posting links to it. That would qualify as "advertising", and such links would be deleted as spam unless you'd first paid CCF for putting the link there. Website owners spamming links to their own websites is how most of our blacklisted sites got on the blacklist in the first place.

...that's unfortunate. I thought there were a few members who regularly posted links to their sites (augustus1 and gxseries are two that come to mind); did they have to pay for the privilege?

I actually considered making a coin-themed blog and linking to it in some CCF posts. I suppose this statement means that either I should not be making coin-themed blogs, or if I ever do, try my best to never mention them on CCF.
(Sorry, payment isn't really an option for me. My earnings are still highly unstable, and I don't have a PayPal account anyway.)

My comment was particularly in reference to new members, particularly new members who are posting on this forum purely to advertise their own sites.

If established members (defined as having over 50 quality posts) have educational sites and wish to share them, then by all means do so - especially if the information posted on such a site is helpful in answering a query on a forum post here.

See the Forum Rules, notably the ones on "Self Promotion" and "Posting Links".

Established members also have signatures they can use, plus a dedicated sales promotion forum. We like to keep sales out of the discussion forums.

Thanks for all the replies. My thought was just in documenting information, which is good research, or asking folks their opinions on info I ran across. That's it!

Stay well,
