Hey all, happy Saturday :)

I dug out a bunch of unfilled whitman/us mint coin albums. These tend to run approximately 1960-2000 for many coins, but I also have 20th century type coins, pre-1900 books.

Are these valuable, either full or empty? I could see people wanting to fill with their own coins, but also save their thumbs (haha..) by purchasing off others. Would love to hear if these albums are worth filling or even keeping. Thanks for the reading and input

Totally depends. For example, if you had a couple of Dansco albums they might fetch a premium because Dansco is having production issues so new product can be hard to come by.

You mentioned saving thumbs, so I am visualizing folders more than albums. If you are talking used folders, most of those are somewhere between 0 and $2 at my LCS. New, up-to-date folders are cheap to start with.

As chafemasterj said, Dansco albums for certain series are in demand, while others get scrapped out for parts like slides or posts.

The type of collecting you do will determine the style of album you need.
For example, slab collectors need slab album pages, and thus Whitman or Dansco would be irrelevant.

Whitman albums seem to offer little protection and no reverse viewing. Definitely heading to the coin store soon to try and remedy these; if nothing else, some slides would be nice.

Whitman folders you mean. Whitman albums are just like Dansco albums, both sides of the coin are viewable and protected with plastic slides.

Almost everyone gets that confused. Album or Folder. Yes Folders are not a good thing for coins regardless of manufacturer. Get almost any brands of Album and you will see the difference.

I would not put my coins in a folder, but I do have a few albums.
