Last week I purchased a 2 oz "medal" of a tribute to the 1873-CC Trade dollar. I'd like to learn more about their products from forum members. Is this "medal" forum the proper forum, or should I instead post on the bullion forum? People that buy these are buying them for the artwork, and not to make money from rises in bullion prices, due to the premium charged (even though that premium is very modest (only about $10 or so total for 2 oz. silver, plus shipping).

39mm, 6mm thick.

Coin pictured looks very attractive. Has to be, in order to be able to sell well.
How well does the bullion market know about these?
That includes the buyers as well as the dealers.

The bullion dealers certainly have to know all about them and that they have a good reputation, or they wont' be interested in buying them as bullion rounds. That is where their base price will be.

Reputation is the main reason why ASE's are so popular on the American market, and perhaps why they are targeted by fakers. On the other hand, it is easier to get away with fakes of less well known bullion rounds.
I am not in any way familiar with the coin pictured, but it certainly looks to be perfectly OK.

I notice that the RCM is including very hard to fake features on their bullion coins.

In the two hours since my original post, I have determined it appears as if this (made by the Limited Mintage, and others made by the Intaglio Mint - those two companies seem to have a relationship) is categorized as a "Silver Round". My apologies to the moderator, as it now appears this post should be on the Bullion forum. I see several companies, such as APMEX, JM Bullion, SD Bullion, and Provident Metals sell these.

It is fine here. It qualifies as "other exonumia" and you are sharing it for its artwork not precious metal value.

The PM forum is really for the stackers, investors, etc.

OK, thanks, but as I found out, these are sold by resellers (like APMEX, etc.) as "Silver Rounds", so I placed a more detailed post late last night on the PM forum.

No problem. Things like this straddle different fora. It really comes down to what you want to discuss about it and what questions you need answered.

We can shift discussion to the other topic...
