JoeVet New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 02/04/2021 4:03 pm When I was a kid my family was stationed on the last military base on the African continent at Tripoli Libya. We would go on family outings to the roman ruins which were well preserved. This coin was sold to us by a caretaker at the roman city of Leptis Magna. They had huge balls of these coins in giant masses stuck together in the museum. Is there anyone can tell me anything about it? I've been told it is virtually worthless but would still like to know something about it. It's a family memory. Report this Post to the Staff

It's a desirable coin of superior style - although, yes, if that's BD, it should be treated. Are the greens spots soft and powdery? The focus of my collection is on the Severan Dynasty, the founder of which hailed from Leptis Magna. It is my hope to visit the site someday when it is safe to do so. That is a very nice Carthaginian bronze, and unlike many coins sold to tourists, appears to be genuine. Treat the BD carefully. You have a nice piece of history there. Report this Post to the Staff

Using the method posted in that thread, It changed the patina/color on mine, but it was an overcleaned coin. I'm not sure what it would do to yours. In my case, I was happy with the darker color.
