Any idea how I can find info on this $50. with a red star.
It's dated 2009. Could it have any value ?
All searches about a "star" lead only to info on the regular star at the end of the serial numbers.
Don't want to spend it until I can check it out..never seen before.
Thank you for any info.

The '50' appears to be printed over the star.
That suggests to me that the star printing is official, and not a post 'mint' overprint after issue into circulation.

Would like to see a close-up of the other large star.

Cannot find another on Google Images:

Thanks for your interest.

I would definitely hang onto that, but unfortunately I have no idea what it could be. I agree with sel_69l it looks as though the star is under the 50, meaning it was present for the printing.

Waiting for experts on the topic

It appears that that both the red star and the red waves are overprinted.

I figure that the waves and star are not a post issue overprint.

The red star was added post-BEP. Everything else, including the red waves and blue star are perfectly normal. Sample $50 note .

It just seems so strange that I can't find any information on it anywhere.
It's kind of reassuring that I'm not the only one wondering about it.
Guess that makes it even more interesting, and maybe rare.

Hopefully someone will say they have seen one too, and know more about it.
Yup, I'm hanging onto it.
Thanks

I've never seen that before and can not find anything online. Hopefully someone will come along with an explanation. inquiring minds want to know.

Someone with a rubber stamp put the Red Star on the note. I'm not understanding what the mystery is all about. This is a possible one-off example made by a person long after it left the BEP.

How is the red star under the green 50?

It only appears to be below the "50". The ink used for red the stamp doesn't adhere to the ink used for the "50" making it look like it is below the "50". I see it all the time, trust me.

OK after looking at it more closely It looks like some of the red ink is on top of the green 50. the red ink bled through giving the illusion that the red ink is beneath the green 50
Thanks StevelnTampa

I am a learner here; that is why I use the rather non committal word 'appears.
At least, it encourages good discussion.

Ignoring my comments, from the above discussion, I am now reasoning that the red star is a post issue overprint, as is the banknote equivalent of deliberate Post Mint Damage, as with coins.

Right - it's the equivalent of a counter-stamp on a coin.
