Hey guys, my first post, I know little of coin collecting so please be patient.

I have a Alexander the great coin I saw for sale. Details are scarce and its likely a fake.

The story is it was purchased in baalbek Lebanon from a dealer for
400USD. It was found in Tyre phoenicia, ptolrmy. Coin is made of bronze, appears very thick, has Alex's head on the front, and an owl on the back... coin looks like nothing thats an authentic coin from that era 300bc

Any opinions or advice?

First off,

Akexsnder-The-Great-Coin

My initial impression is that your piece was cast rather than struck. I believe you're right in thinking it's neither genuine nor ancient.

The coin this is based on was minted long before Alexander was born.

Here are examples.

The genuine coins are silver. This is a brass "tourist copy".

I don't think there are any sellers of genuine ancient coins in Lebanon, not that a tourist is likely to find at any rate. All the coins you see for sale in the tourist traps like Baalbek are fakes.
