My eyes and/or imagination must be declining. ALthough there is a lot of detail there, I cannot figure out the design at all.

What do you think is shown in the first photo, and what is shown in the second photo?
Is there a crown? A coat of arms? A crowned bust? A seated figure? An heraldic animal like a rampant lion or an eagle? A wreath or a beaded circle around a central design?

Those are the kinds of things I consider to be parts of a design (maybe it's poor numismatic terminology on my part)
