Can anyone recommend a reputable seller with a large inventory of IHC? I'm interested in obtaining a 1890's IHC in MS64 RB condition (for the simple reason I don't wanna pay a lot), but most stores I have found so far want $200+, which I think is way too much.

Rick Snow's website is down for some reason. I'd just search ebay for a slabbed coin you like with full return privileges.

I try to give small coin stores business and don't wanna run to ebay all the time, but they don't make it easy.

Most of ebay minus Mike, any ANA or PNG dealer, EERC is arguably the best though.

EERC is Eagle Eye Rare Coins, owned by Rick Snow, THE top authority on Indian and Flying Eagle cents. He literally "wrote the book" on this segment of our wonderful hobby. While his website is indiancent.com (cent is singular, not plural), he indicated on another forum that he is currently dealing with a legal issue with a financial backer of his, so currently no coins are for sale. I really hope it gets worked out. Personally, Rick is a super nice person. You can try emailing him at ri ck @ in dia nc ent.com (not "cents", but "cent"). Regardless, EVERYONE collecting IHC and/or Flying Eagle cents should buy his book "A Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents", 3rd Edition, by Richard Snow, published by Whitman. I believe it retails new for only $18, and new or used it's worth every penny. Make sure you get the 3rd edition.

You won't pay those prices ....... Unfortunately your timing couldn't be worse . For properly graded material right now the Coin market is on fire ! Good luck trying to buy low wholesale puff bidding in this market .

Quote: Just checked a few prices on the Charmy Harker website. Her prices are high retail. "High Retail"? More like sky high retail. Let's take the 1899 IHC MS64 RB for example. Greysheet retail says the price should be about $128. PCGS is at $135. But the coin with those attributes is for sale on her website for $225. A 75% markup!!

You have to understand , guides don't sell coins . Right now quality coins are bringing top money , just the way it is ! If you want a really nice no issues coin , you are going to have to pay up or wait to see if the market changes . I am a dealer , right now , for a fresh collection , I would pay silly money knowing that the market is exceptionally strong for Nice material . I would be in line with a hundred others unfortunately!

@PacificCoin
You think it is 1985-1986 all over again? When WallStreet was bidding up coins into the stratosphere, only to have the entire market crash by the of that decade?

Keep in mind that for a coin to be graded RB, the "Red" portion has to be at least 5%, but less than 95%. RB Coins with a lot more red in them WILL sell for more than those with much less red. The Greysheet treats coins like commodities, as if every coin in a particular grade is equal and identical. But "The Market" recognizes differences in eye appeal, and like it or not, "The Market" will pay more for coins with nicer eye appeal. "The Market" is the boss!

@Winesteven,
so basically you are saying I am irrational by adhering to Greysheet prices?
