Hi everyone!
I started in this hobby because I was doing Seven Years' War living history, and I wanted a few coins that might be typical for a British colonist in the 1750s.
Well, I got hooked.... sigh.

My accumulation has expanded into British coins, German silver coins, and some US coins, ranging from a rough 1773 Virginia halfpenny to Civil War tokens, Peace dollars, and a few Silver Eagles.

Basically, I'm a newbie interested in history and discovering an interest in silver coinage.
I stumbled on this site looking for more information, and I thought I'd introduce myself.

Welcome! I think a lot of people are interested in the history behind the coins we collect. It is neat to be able to hold something from long ago in your hands today.

The history behind coins of numismatic interest is one of main reasons why I collect.

Thus, I have been lead down lots of very interesting rabbit holes in the parallel development of World history over the last 2,500 years.
"Coins are the hardware of history". Handling and studying them brings you face to face with their historical context.

For example, my avatar coin was struck in the Macedonian town of Pella. That was enough for me to eventually visit the modern town in the same location.
The coin and the visit to where the coin was struck makes the history in it's ancient context very real to me.
