I found this dime with a die crack error and wanted to share. To me it looks like a bird standing on top of the flame on the torch. I'm sorry I know some of you don't like screen pics. Anyone else see the same?

Looks more like a die chip than a crack but screen pics are so pixilated
that it is hard to say for sure.

Or both. A die crack that turned into a die chip. Keep mind the die is progressive. The issue starts out with one thing, then adds then turns into something else later. Why did I mention the die crack first? remember the discussion about how the die forces the taller designs and it eventually twists the die. Thus the die cracks. Memorial cents often crack at corners of the building. Well this area is one of the dimes corners that can crack, and after the crack the die will loose more material and form a chip. Eventually when more of the die material breaks away, then the area get larger and becomes a break. It is progressive. (It never goes back and fixes itself) Progressive.

The the Peanuts Cartoon:

The bigger devices are forming the toughest areas. So the die is bending, like a cracker. as the die ages and several polishing happen, the die is weaknened.

Nice explanation Coop. I have a nickel that looks like fire coming from building window with a spirit floating. It has a few other die issues also.

The story of the cartoon is different. I remember reading it years back. I started looking for it. then discovered it on the internet. I read is back in 1956, and still remembered it today. (I was 7 then)

Dan the coin man: PLEASE no shots of monitors. They don't help us at all. Please use camera photography to show us your coins. We like to see overall whole coin shots, then closeups of areas of interest. Thanks.
