Thanks QH! I felt confident it was a decent buy at this price.

That is a superb example!
I remember when I first started to sell RPMs about 9 years ago. I remember getting $50 to $60 for an 1956D-RPM1. Then a man found an OBW roll and sold them one after another. The first one went for a premium, the second about the same, but he was listing a new one every three days for almost 6 months! needless to say the bottom fell out of that market. As I recall the last few went for less than $5 shipped. I think greed made him gloss over any consequences of flooding the market. He probably thought he was going to get $60 a piece for all 50!
It has been awhile since I dabbled in the RPM market. It seems like unless you have an obscure RPM, it needs to be full red to sell.

Thanks spruett! jmkendall, your assessment is correct from what I've seen. A full red example is one of the few ways to sell an RPM like this one for top dollar. I recall the story of this variety flooding the market too. Dropped the value a lot. Same story with the 2019-W quarters as collectors found rolls with them and sold them off fast.

Thank you Bats! I was honestly surprised when I won the auction. Thought it would go higher for sure.

@coop... Wasn't 1956 the year they offered a new choice of beverage on the Mint's lunch menu? Bottomless mug FRIDAY only 10¢ extra!

CH27, agreed, people just were stupid greedy when it came to the 2019-W Quarters. I know a man who had rolls with W enders and wanted $200 a roll! He also had tubes of 19-Ws that he wanted $20 each for. I do believe he got his price....for a very short while.
When the feeding frenzy died he was left with 5 tubs/rolls, and eventually he came into the shop and sold them to us for $4 each. We sold them for $6.50 to our regular collectors and $2 for our young collectors.

Sounds like you guys ran a good deal for the W quarters! I went out and got some rolls when they first released. I found around 14 2019-W Lowell examples. Kept I think 3 or 4 of them which I still own. They were selling for around $50-$60 each when I found mine but I felt they were going to drop significantly in price. I sold them for $10 a piece to some happy dealers who probably flipped them for more. There were some very greedy sellers on ebay who were getting $100+ for some examples when they first came out. Slabbed examples went for a stupid amount as well. -CH27
