2000 New Hampshire State Quarter Gold In Color

Dsrn1 New Member United States 14 Posts	Posted 02/21/2021 12:43 am As you can see this 2000 New Hampshire State Quarter was found by my wife's father, so I asked him if I could pass it by all of you in the community, so along with the gold color on the coin, the outer edge in also gold in color, the weight is exactly that of a normal quarter. All I can find is a video of an experimental planchet in 1999. This quarter however is a 2000. Any clues as to what oddity this can be called? Thanks in advance for giving my post your time. If it doesn't rub off, then I would suspect a plated coin as mentioned previously. Report this Post to the Staff

merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 02/22/2021 03:31 am As suggested, you either have a gold plated quarter that were sold by the thousands on Home Shopping Network (HSN) -OR- you have an environmentally tarnished/stained/toned quarter that could have taken on the gold colour from some sort of post mint damage. Sorry, not an "experimental planchet". Plated or toned, both processes are considered damage, so no extra value I'm afraid. Keep it as a novelty piece. Report this Post to the Staff
