Looks to me like it's something that happened when struck but I really don't know. Wish I had the knowledge to make a solid call in this one. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/21/2021 3:40 pm Is the lower piece loose on the coin? If so, it could be a lamination peel/struck through debris peel. Normal die wear affects this area first on cents. But not like what were are seeing here. Weight? over a bit? Report this Post to the Staff

Guess I should get a different new scale I've had this for awhile. It's not loose. I can get very up close with scope 20x4x but pictures lousy.
