Flat Surfaces On A 1994 P Quarter - Coin Community Forum

STKRollHunter New Member United States 49 Posts	Posted 02/22/2021 4:42 pm Had a quick question regarding a 1994 P quarter. I was looking through rolls and came across this coin. I was about to disregard it but figured I would ask first. The coin has no reading on the rim and has a perfectly flat surface on most of Jefferson's face and on both obverses and reverse rims as shown in the photos. I'm 90% sure it's a throwaway but wanted to ask yall first. Report this Post to the Staff

STKRollHunter New Member United States 49 Posts	Posted 02/22/2021 5:06 pm I have a weight of around 5.605 Grams. According to the Red Book weight of 5.67 Grams, it would appear that this coin is .065 grams light, indicating nfine is correct. Thanks for the help. If you think you have a valuable coin never hold it as the fourth picture reflects. oil from our fingers can etch into the metal leaving a permanent finger print lowering the value. Diy89Nurm7 Valued Member United States 271 Posts	Posted 02/24/2021 11:16 am I concur and would add that I suspect the damage to have occurred all at once since the altered surface seems to be at the same level and very deep.
