Now that I look at it the back looks more like a normal quarter than the front or is that just me

Note the areas that are handled the most. the rims on the coin, you can see the color is normal there. There is just a coating on the coins. Normal value for this. Not a premium.

Although chemically more stable than bronze or copper coins,
copper nickel coins also can develop a range of toning appearances, depending on their prevailing environment.
