I have enough "goiter neck" 1924-S coins, but this one caught my attention with all the weakness. So I cherrypicked it for $5.50 plus shipping.
Turns out it was struck on a thin planchet, or debatably a tapered planchet. I find that the coin is pretty thin the entire way around, and it makes quite the higher pitch when set on a hard surface. Weight is just 2.65g.
The "goiter neck" is a well know example of a die subsidence error.
