Never heard of a "mule clash" but I don't see any sign of any type of clash. Also having "shapes and letters all over the place" is impossible to occur during the striking of a coin. It is just wear and damage giving the illusion of something that's not there. There is a word we use for this, Pareidolia. |

Clashes happen on the center areas of the design, where the deep devices slam against each other with no planchet to keep the dies from damaging each other. Die wear happens on the outside of the devices towards the rim direction. So not sure what you are saying, it is not a clash issue on the motto area. The only time I've seen that is from a wheat area clash mark.  Wheat stem:  I can't find the image I'm looking for right now. |

The top photo shows damage rim, not sure with the second photo, give us a description what we are looking at.
Better pictures is a requirement, or playing guessing.

When posting, PLEASE photograph your entire coin (the whole thing), both front and back and then closeups of areas of interest. Why both sides? Because sometimes the "other" side can give us clues as to what's happening. And please make sure your images are in focus and razor sharp. Yes, all this is possible within the size limitations, practice your photography first, it allows us to help you better.  |
