Looks more that die wear. Nickels tend to wear the dies more than copper coins. The way you can tell it is die wear is that the edges of the fields and the edges of the devices are flowing together like a ramp. So this happens a lot on nickels, unlike the example rockdude posted. Very nice notching and you can see the devices are taller because of the difference of the hubbings. Nice find rockdude. It looks similar to a Triple die proof nickel I found once.
