Hey All! I got a big collection of currency both coins and paper from my father and thought it would be wise to get some assistance with finding out what I have. One of the big questions I have is about cleaning the coins. Is there a good way to refurbish the appearance of the coins? Have a lot tat are pretty oxidized but might be worth something. Another big question I have is about looking at teh coins themselves. What do I need to look for on the coins to determine the value. Not looking to sell any yet but wanted to try to take beter care of them. Last question is about paper currency. Is this the place for that or do I look elsewhere? I must say I am excited to learn more about this. Any questions or comments are welcome. Thanks in advance to all.

As a rule, it's usually not a good idea to clean coins. Suggest posting photos of a few sample coins--one coin per topic thread. Photos should be full coin, large and sharp. Will give us an idea of what you have what what could be done moving forward.

to CCF. As a general rule: never clean coins. If you happen to have a rare coin that needs conserving, NGC and PCGS can do it professionally at a cost for you. Post good photos of some coins that you need help with.
