The somewhat splotchy color of this coin initially raised my suspicion. In checking the seller's feedback, I see that he's sold some counterfeits in past months. Bidding seems strong. What say our experts?

That seller has been reported on the CCF counterfeit forum several times for selling counterfeit gold bars
that would not even show up on his feedbacks.
Stay away unless you are certain it is 100% genuine.

Not sure but might be fake . Certain areas of obverse are sharp and struct up while feather tips , hair ,curls and diamonds are worn .

Kanga says it well - wouldn't give it a second glance raw unless I considered myself an expert.

No expert, but I suspect an added mint mark. Pics are blurry but the top of the S is too short and the bottom loop too flat, and the area around it is suspicious.

On the other hand (just saying), the tips of the first three feathers in the headdress are characteristically weak.

True. I wonder if somebody would deliberately wear down the feathers. Now that you mention it, my eye is drawn to the change in color at the tips all around. Regardless, I wouldn't buy this coin uncertified.
