Hello everyone.

I have an old Roman coin here which I am trying to work out what it is exactly. There is a semi-decent relief of the emperor on the obverse, whilst on the reverse is a somewhat ok relief of a figure. Sadly much of the inscription is unreadable making any attempts at narrowing it down difficult.

Thank you in advance.

@nec, since this coin is from ancient Rome, I'm going to move your thread over to that subforum. We will get some good eyes on it for you over there.

it's Theodosius I from Thessalonica

D N THEODOSIVS P F AVG, pearl-diademed, helmeted, draped, and cuirassed bust right, holding spear and round shield / GLORIA ROMANORVM, Theodosius standing facing, head right on ship, raising right hand; Victory at helm; wreath in left field

mintmark is TESB...maybe a dot in front-- it's not clear
