Curious to know if this is considered a clipped planchet [however minor].

Thank you

Looks like a real clip to me too. Even some weakness below Lincoln on the bottom of coin.

Small, but still a nice clip! Too bad about the marks on the obverse and fingerprint on the reverse.

Question - Why can't I se the clip from the reverse side? The rim looks normal all the way 'round.

Can you please post up another picture with the coin turned with the 'clip' facing the camera/phone?

Looks more like damage to me. A clip would be a vertical cut. I'm not seeing that on the reverse.

How could this coin be cut, only affecting on side of the coin?

It would be good to see a pic of the edge at the anomaly. Not all incomplete planchets are standard clips.
There looks to be the appearance of some Blakesley effect on the obverse and weakness of the rim on the reverse
The angle of the coin in the first photo may just be showing the curve of a weakly struck rim while the angle that was used for the reverse photo the coin would hide a weakly struck rim.

Thanks for all the replies, [esp. Coop, who is always educating, thank you].

An interesting development...

This was a coin I purchased off ebay, and I don't have possession of as of yet.

Long story short, I just revisited the ad and it appears the reverse pic is now different! Not sure how this could happen.
After the comments, I also started questioning how this could happen [thanks for being skeptical Dearborn]. I now see a different reverse pic which I have included. This new reverse pic does show damage in the correct place.

Previously, I was concentrating on the actual damage and the 'Blakesly-like' effect adjacent to it.

Hopefully this new pic clears up the issues.

Again, not sure how/why this happened - There is no way I could have saved a different reverse pic.

Ok, Now that I see the new image which shows the reverse damage(clip) I'm convinced. I'm glad I posted my skepticism allowing you to investigate further and get a final answer.

I hope that when you get the coin, you will post it here for us.

On further review, I was right for the wrong reason!
